Diagnosed with aggressive Stage II breast cancer in 2004, the mother of three underwent eight surgeries in only 14 months while battling the disease. Today, she continues to display the determination and poise she showed in her fight against breast cancer in her crusade to educate young girls about the disease. Mary Ann then started "The Get In Touch" Foundation with the mission to encourage girls of all ages to "Get In Touch" with their bodies, information, and each other. The interactive tool that was developed, the "Daisy Wheel", educates girls in grades 5-12 on the importance of the breast self exam for life. Mary Ann’s experiences taught her that she is stronger than she ever believed she was, and to share that message by changing the world one girl at a time.
